My research interests have included
- historical and comparative studies of institutions and organizations, e.g. new and strategic forms of organization in the global fashion industry (Djelic and Ainamo 1999)
- mobile telephony (Djelic and Ainamo 2005 in Research in the Sociology of Organizations; Ainamo and Pantzar 2000, Design Journal.
- what are now called service sciences in management consulting, journalism, legal services, archictecture, and product/industrial design
- strategic perspectives on global projects
- Innovation journalism
